I use herbal essences hydralicious reconditioning shampoo.
I shower in hot water, but when i shampoo&Condition my hair, i put the heat settings of the water to cold. Hot waters bring's more frizz and damages the hair if done to often.
I naturally have curly, puffy, hair. So i do not brush, but use a tangle comb and just comb out the knots. I then blowdry on cold, not forgetting my hair protection serum (Not to much.)
Once i finish blowdrying, my hair is always a puffy mess, so i place in a few drops of Bio silk. Not only smell's good but has a great effect. I then put my straightener on the highest heat, because it's better for your hair if you only go through it once and have it straight, instead on the lowest setting and having to go through the hair alot to straighten it.
This is not really healthy for my hair, but it make's my hair shinny and beautiful. Whenever my hair is dry and frizzy, i rub my hair with olive oil and put on a shower cap. Leaving it on for thirty minutes, then washing out with Shampoo and Conditioner.
My hair...Although not the healthiest, it is really shinny and nice.
Im sure when im in my twenty's it'll be terrible (lol.) but for now my hair is very nice.
Try to avoid using heat as much as possible, but no matter what, you can't avoid the high heat of a straightening iron.
Brush your hair and make sure there are no knots before you wash your hair.

Oh and don't wash it every day it's strips you hair of all the natural oils meaning minging hair!
What I do is I wash my hair, squeeze excess water out, then put conditioner in, leave it in for about 10 minutes, then I was it out, I then towel dry, and make a mixture of 2 egg whites, 2 tbsp of olive oil, and a squeeze of lemon juice, or just some mayonnaise. The olive oil (canola oil in mayonnaise) hydrates the hair, giving it essential oils, making it softer, the lemon juice (acid, vinegar in mayonnaise) makes the hair shiny, and the egg whites (protein, egg in mayonnaise) reconstructs protein compounds in the hair, making it stronger and healthy.
You can get your hair shiny by
Rinse your hair with cold water to enhance the shine of your locks. Rinsing with cold water will close & smoothen the cuticle making it look shiny.
Two ways to close and smoothen the cuticle after shampoo are:
a. To 1 gallon of distilled water add 1tbls of vinegar. Once the shampoo is washed apply the rinse. (It might not give a good odor, but the results are good.)
b. Apply acidic conditioners after rinse.
Get a transparent color on your hair in the same way normal colors are applied. The color will add little pigments to the hair shaft that would make your hair shine when light falls on it.
The simplest way to have shiny hair - deep conditions them.
Vitamin E is essential for your hair. Include brown rice, nuts, wheat germ and leafy green vegetables in your diet.
In a bowl mash avocado, one tbls of olive oil and a tsp of baking powder. Mix well and apply it on your hair. Rinse it after 15 minutes.
If you have got your pretty locks colored, use products for color treated hair. These products will prevent the color from discharging, and making it look lifeless and dull.
Natural oil can also make your hair look shiny. Just brush or comb your hair.
Using a hair dryer can eliminate the moisture from your hair. Pick on heat activated shampoos and conditioners to retain the moisture.
To keep it healthy always
Wash your hair only 2-3 times per week and use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner combo or a color care formula. When you condition, leave conditioner on 2-3 minutes before rinsing. Washing hair everyday strips it of essential moisture that helps keep it shiny and soft. After your wash, spray with a leave in conditioner and / or color protectant.
Also
Deep condition once a week. This is essential to youthful, healthy vibrant hair. Use a deep conditioning treatment suited to your hairtype and any chemical processes you may have had. The best way to deep condition it is to envelop your hair with the deep conditioner. Wet a hand towel and place it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to get it too hot and burn yourself. Wrap towel securely around your head and leave treatment in for as long as you can. Usually 15-30 minutes should be good. Wash and follow with your leave in conditioner and / or color protectant spray.
